Join Witness to Innocence in carrying on John Thompson's work!
John Thompson (JT) made it his mission to fight for the needs of the men and women exonerated after wrongful convictions. From his own experience, and from witnessing the struggles of those he sought to help, he knew that the compensation given to exonerees was far from adequate.
Join us in calling on JT's State Senator Wesley T. Bishop to introduce The John Thompson Wrongful Conviction Compensation Improvement Bill which would increase the per year amount to $50,000, remove the 10-year cap, and provide an upfront lump sum to acknowledge the life opportunities lost and provide exonerees with enough resources to make a meaningful step toward successfully re-entering society.
It is up to us to carry on JT's work and ensure that those who survive wrongful convictions get the support they need and compensation they deserve.

JT was right - the Louisiana exoneree compensation law must be improved.
Your message to Senator Bishop will honor all that JT sought to accomplish and will carry forward his fight for the wrongfully convicted!
